Slave

by Christy Carpenter   Sep 19, 2005

Admiring eyes study the beautiful shade of hazel of the person across
But you don't even know I'm there.
Such a rush of adrenaline for that split second you look up
And in that moment, I know I crossed your mind
Unless you still can't see me.
Nothing more than a useless slave
Not even enough to be called by a name,
None except "hey".
What happens when I disappear
Will you notice the change
Or just that you have nobody to do your dirty work?

It's short, but deep at the same time. You did an excellent job of capturing the feeling you have when somone you truly care for gives you that look, even if they don't know you feel the way you do. All in all, great work.
