Part Two

by AJ Lopez   Nov 28, 2003

(This is part two from my first poem... but try to focus more on the conclusion of the poem than the first part)

Just friends, just friends; two words no one really wants to hear. Two simple words, your heart jeers, fears, and in pain, shears.

To hear love silenced with two words, “Just friends, just friends,” To recover from such devastation, only God’s comfort can mend.

To want something so bad and to work so hard, only to watch it just crumble and just fall apart.

Two words that can easily break a man. To crush him, his dreams, his love, no man can stand.

“Just friends, Just friends,” echoing within my mind. To search its way deep within my soul, for my heart to find.

To give and pour your heart to someone; hoping, wishing, wanting, knowing, she will give her heart back. Then to hear those two words- to feel the pain and power in which it packs.

How can two words invoke so much pain? Two words that can ruin a relationship and give that relationship a drastic change. Nothing can be the same.

Those two words burn a whole straight through my heart. Where once was light, is now dark. Those two words searched my soul and hit its mark.

So if “just friends” is what we are to be, I just want you to know how much you mean to me.

Although you choose to let your love for me free, I choose to let my love for you stand beside me.

And even though we will be “just friends”, I will be here for you, someone you can depend.

When the rain pours down its mystic blanket from Heaven, the two words will leave me cold, but give me hope… Those two words- Just friends
