Lies

You kiss me on the head as you hold me tight
and tell me everything will be okay.
All you need is some space and time
so I let myself play along with your words.
I already know that all your pathetic reasons are lies
but you tell me to believe you
so I say that I do.
It is apparent that you don't quite realize
just how much pain and sorrow you're putting me through.
Or it could even be that you don't care
because it's obvious you're not interested
in my heart or my mind.
I look into your serene eyes
searching for some small trace of truth
but I find absolutely nothing.
Warm tears begin to slide down my face
and I wonder, why do I care?
Yet inside, I do know why.
It's because I love you.
And I am in love with you.
And that will never change.
