Lonely Lake

by Poncho Pandapants   Oct 1, 2005

Looking up at the stars
I see the gleaming light
Takes away the troubles and the pain
Searching for you
I know you're there
You've been there ever since you left me here
Crying, tears run down my face
I fondly remember down by the lake
On that old peaceful pier
I remember it cause it only happened last year
You took my hand
You took my heart
You held me when I feel apart
We spent everyday together for months
Until that night you decided to get drunk
The night before our wedding
Your bachelor party was a night of dreading
Getting in your car you could barely see
Your friends let you go alone
As I sat waiting by the phone
I was having a party of my own
I went to my room to be alone
You were driving down that empty road
I was breathing very slow
As you collided into that on-coming car
I let you
I fell to the floor
My friends came rushing in
I didn't know until I got that phone call
My life took the greatest fall
Crying, I put down the phone
Knowing you left me alone
Now I stand on the pier once again
Spreading your ashes across the lake
Tears running down my face
The lake is cold and dark and silent
Driving drunk.......
What a way to go...
If only.......
If only I would have known
