Then and Now

by ~*~ April ~*~   Oct 3, 2005

The soft green meadows of my childhood
Where heather blossomed and rabbits fed
This is where my small body stood
The memory I receive every night in bed

My memory continues of that little girl
Who is running through that soft green field
Her face is unique just like a pearl
But her heart is as strong as red hot steel

But tables turn when I take a right
The teenage years are haunting me back
I suddenly lose that precious sight
Of the perfection which I now lack

The pearl has changed to fools gold
The steel has turned to rotten meat
My new life is a story not to be told
As it will frighten people when they sleep.

There are the occasional pleasures
When you are allowed to think on your self
The glamour, the gifts and all the treasures
Which I needed when I was as small as an elf

The amazing adventures, the stunning style
Is when I get blown away
Back to those meadows which spread from mile to mile
Back to where my old young body lay

But my life is not all love and hope
As the stress never abandons me
Again my body and I are left to cope
Alone together for all eternity

Of course the love is still around
But it has changed just like me
I wish I could hear that soft, sweet sound
The voice of that girl, the girl I used to be.
