Roadkill

by Roulin   Oct 3, 2005

It was an ordinary day at school,
Everything went fine, everything was cool,
I got on the bus with a really good friend,
How was I to know that today was my end?

We (as usual) went off in the normal way,
She went one way, I the other like every day,
We said goodbye and how was I to know?
That would be the last time Id ever watch her go.

As I turned my back and walked up the road,
Along came a truck with an enormous load,
i didn't notice in my absent-mindedness,
Until it hit me and left me as an awful mess.

Nobody knew- well no one had seen!
No one knew what became of the girl who had been,
A future promise for a musical stage,
But she never grew to a firm legal age.

I was only thirteen when I was hit,
buried in the gutter with dirt and grit.
No one cares about that lump in the gutter,
And no one has heard anymore than a mutter.
