Superhero

by Kelly   Oct 12, 2005

Your lies are falling apart
My eyes are all cried out
The smiles, and touches, and moments we once shared
Are now just an elaborate game of truth or dare

You've got your own way of playing nice
And every laugh you make is my own sacrifice
And I'm tired of hearing her name on your lips
And I miss the warmth of your hair on my fingertips

You love the feeling of walking tall
But remember the times you wouldn't let me fall
Now your girls stay and your expenses are paid
But what happens when your superhero starts to fade

All of your pieces are finally falling into place
And you handle it all with a smile on your face
I'm just a backup singer to the finaly encore
But you know the ending, you know the score

You love the feeling of walking tall
You laugh at those who trip and crawl
Now your boys laugh and your expenses are paid
Tell me what happens when your childhood superheroes begin to fade?

Your heavy heart told me a story once upon a time
My face was yours, your dreams and wishes were mine
And neither of us did care about the rain
And you whispered I could take away your pain

I'll turn my head at your face or name
You meet my eyes, but it's not the same
I learn that not all stories have a happy ending
And sometimes superheroes and prince charmings are just pretending
