A Lesson In Anti-Love

by Stef   Oct 13, 2005

I've learned to be cold, I've learned to be mean
I've learned to be everything I never wanted to be
I learned to be numb; I've learned how to deal
And I've learned how much easier it is not to feel.

I know now how to bend the rules just for me
I know how to change the way things should be
I know how to play you; I've made the game my own
And I know how to make it so I'll always be alone.

I can play it cool, and I can pretend to play fair
I can make you believe I will when I'll never care
I can tear you apart without a single hint of regret
And I can hurt then desert you, and quickly forget.

I'll fool you into believing each and every word that I say
I'll tell you that I need you and then I'll swiftly run away
I'll convince you that it's real, and that I haven't lied
And I'll break your heart and leave you with tears I never cried.

I've learned to be cruel; I know how to become numb
I can pretend to love you; I'll play along with anyone
I'll act like I'm so perfect, but when your heart's at stake
I'll be the one to leave you, but I'll be your favourite mistake.
