Longing for acceptance

by dragon   Oct 14, 2005

I look for your approval, that precious reward.
only to fall on your words, like a knight on his sword.
You spite my success, you claim a foul.
My mood then changes, from smile to scowl.
You say I rob you, stealing your chance for glory.
but thats not how it is, here's my side of the story:
My true desire is to find our common thread.
"Opposites attract", or so our friends said.
Instead of embracing each others views,
we fight and regret and both of us lose.
So I try to bridge gaps whenever I can,
I attempt to show you, I can be your kind of man.
An erotic poem that peaks your desire,
rekindle the flame on that long burnt out fire.
A story about us in perfect rhyme.
to show I think of you all of the time.
I see your reaction to another man's wink,
I scramble to impress you, to change how you think.
If he is thinner, I diet that day.
If he is smarter, I study away.
His writing witty, his penmanship tight.
I pile up the wastebasket till I get it just right.
If the flowers arrive, a carnation of blue,
I pick you fresh roses, babies breaths too.
So its not that I want to steal the spot-light.
And its not that I always have to prove myself right.
I do it to show you that there are things we can share.
A desire to express ourselves
show how we care.
Please understand this and try to be true.
Your love and approval is all I need from you.

I love you Catz.
