High Desert Fall

by Bill Turner   Oct 20, 2005

Leaves of fire fluttering in the wind
Ravenous lust under the arbor
Hint of winter in the air
Scent of the flowers late flourish
This scene our love does nourish

Crisp is the breeze in the air
Warmth, holding each other tight
Winter stands on the threshold
Geese going south, high in the air
Holding each other, my fingers in your hair

The sun sets early on nights like this
Winter creeping over the mountain tops
Trees dancing in the suns inferno
As the day gives way to black
Love moving forward, never looking back

Full moon cresting tree lined ridge
Fog shrouded valley below
Bizarre shadows cast in the light
The radiance of the moon reflected in your eyes
The only resonance, our passionate sighs

Nights in the desert last forever
Nocturnal creatures prowl the land
Vanishing come the light of day
Sunrise painting the earth a wonderful hue
A mere reflection of my love for you
