I still love you

I remember the first time you said you loved me.
I could hear the nervousness in your voice.
I could see the fear in your eyes.
You were wondering if i would make that choice.

I left for Iraq and left you here.
No word from me did you receive.
Inside your heart id never leave.
But in your heart you always feared,
moving on,
our love was in arrears.

My tour ended and i returned.
to find you'd moved on.
You'd found someone else
and you had set me aside.

I called you, it had been 9 months
ecstatic you sounded to hear my voice.
how do you feel i asked your heart.
I love you so much, but we cant restart.
our love is here our lives are not.

we cant even be friends.
its time to move forward.
no regrets
don't say a word.

well love each other for the rest of our days.
maybe well be together someday.

OMG, That was such a sad poem! It was beautifully written! I also wonder why you didn't keep in touch with her... why not even a letter? Anyway, that's just my silly curiosity... Great poem! You have a lot of talent and you are a gifted writer, keep it up!

This was an amazing and heartfelt poem. And I admire you, for the job that you are doing, and all the things you put on the line to fight for our country. I could never have to courage that you have to leave the one you love for 9 months to serve your country. You did a great job with this poem, it shows a lot of emotion. Keep up the good work.

    Take Care,
    Renee
