Portraits Of The Empty Canvas

by Joey Matthews   Oct 29, 2005

Looking beyond the past
In portraits
Trying to determine the future
Only ever realizing
Life's just
One big blank
Canvas

5 years just passed away
so quick, too fast
They're never coming back
Only frozen in my head

Sometimes I still see
The ghost standing
Watching from below
I try to take comfort
In knowing you're watching
While the world around me
Slowly falls apart

I've never felt so alone
With all the people around
Dealing, facing up
Looking forward
Always trying to remember
How life was before

Struggling to prove
Every seconds worth while

Cold sharp depressing air
I can barely breathe

I can barely breathe
Spirts, Souls
Our hearts a disease
