Leaves (Crapsey Cinquain)

by Daniel J   Oct 30, 2005

Autumn,
At Summer's end,
The coloured leaves will fall,
Yellow and brown scatter the ground,
Fallen.
-------
A Crapsey cinquain [Crapsey being the name of the woman who first used this type of style, not an adjective!] is a short, usually unrhymed poem consisting of twenty-two syllables distributed
as 2, 4, 6, 8, 2, in five lines.

Other Cinquain's may rhyme.
Modern Cinquain's follow more rigid rules than traditional and Crapsey cinquains.

The term \"cinquain\" may be loosely applied to any stanza of 5 lines.

I like the subject you picked.

Obserations of season change is one of the sweetest soups to make.

Though I really am not sure if I like this Crapsey Cinquain itself. If maybe the cinquain could have been 24 syllables, and four syllables being the ending, then I would probably like it look to write in it myself.

Though I think that due to my own insecurities in rhyming, and sticking to a certain meter or syllable count, that this particular rhyming scheme just isnt for me.

    Cute, at any rate.
