The Promise

I walk down the street we used to walk together.The memories of the past come flooding back.I stumble as I remember that cold and wet day.The day my life changed forever as you said thoughts words.I remember like it was yesterday...
You said That you had to leave and you would come back.You said you would never forget about the promise we made to each other.I didn't forget. I stood there for hours in this rain.Hoping;praying that you had not forgotten our promise.But it seems you have and you have moved on to another.
I wonder into the coffee shop where we used to drink our coffee in the morning.I sit at the same table we always used to sit at and order my same old coffee as I watch the rain.
Slowly it sinks in that you're never coming back. As I fight the tears; I hold tight to my coffee cup and they begin to flow from me.Never hearing your voice,never feeling your touch,never having your face to see hurts so much;I can't stand it.I feel so alone in this world.I brush the tears away, but they keep coming.The word never echos in my head as I sit alone.
"Don't cry. At least over me." Someone's voice enters my thoughts.My head flies up to meet a passionate kiss.Our meet and tears of joy and happiness stream down my face."It's you!" I stutter. "Well who else, remember?" He smirks."I promised you that I would return to you. I'll never leave you again, I swear."I was too stunned to answer.All I could think about was the fact that he came back!I hugged him tight and whispered I love you as we walked home together on that cold and rainy night.
