You let me lean on you

by Shelby Bridges   Nov 5, 2005

If I could have bottled time
I would have a place to go
I could always pick the moments
and the times that seem to flow
I could reach upon the feelings
I have never seemed to share
and never stare at darkness
In my moments of despair

I could walk among the sunshine
that has shined upon my face
And always seek the glory
of another time and another place
Just to stare upon the stars
and maybe a wish or two
Because I still believe in magic
like I always believed in you

So tonight before I go to sleep
and lay my head to rest
I'll think of you and you alone
but mostly how I'm blessed
I'll think about the bottled time
and thoughts that we once knew
But most of all I'll think about
How you let me lean on you

Hey shelby, this is a solid well thought out piece of poetry, and oddly for me, i can't quite work out if it's simple about an old partner, or something more philisophical which would explain the ending...perhaps if you have a mind you could tell me.

Only niggle, is the 4th line of the second stanza has to me, two extra syllables that don't seem to fit with the rest of the piece. I'd suggest dropping the second "another" from that line.

    regards.
