A New Face

Before you I stand, a new face
With each adventure, I have chased
I've changed who I am, who I was
I've lived my life, just because

People ask why, and roll their eyes
They're to sheltered to see my demise
I look at them, and turn away
I never want to look at life that way

You people think you've got it so rough
I hear you saying, "it's just so tough"
But you have a home, a place to live
You have family, with love to give

You have food, to eat or throw out
So I have no idea what you're complaining about
Try to go a day, out on your own
To use the skills, your parents have shown

To be lost, with no where to turn
Except the drugs, for which you yearn
For they heal, cure your flaws
Make you forget, all you saw

You spend all you have, for a simple hit
So that your own image, makes you sick
You can't look at who you've become
And ashamed of all that you've done

At least you have a home, a place to sleep
A shower, some soap, so you don't reek
You don't lay your head, on a park bench
And you're not embarrassed of your stench

You don't lie down at night, a quiver in pain
Because you're hungry, cold, and wet from rain
At least you can close your eyes, in comfortable ease
Not worrying of a stranger, doing whatever he please

You have parents, or at least friends
That will stand by you until the end
They wont walk out, and leave you to die
They won't turn away, without a goodbye

Just open your eyes, look around
See the way you act, brings people down
I don't want to seem mean, or rude at all
I just want you to see, your grace can fall

I came here, for means of escape
But the person I am, you'll never appreciate
Iâ'I'velived more, than the average teen
Iâ'vI'veeen homeless, alone, and a drug-feen

Before you I stand, a new face
I don't look away, or bow in dedisgrace_I hold my head up high for you all to see
That who I was then, now isn't me
