Falling in

by Megan Michaud   Nov 8, 2005

I am trapped in a hole, so vast and so deep,
Resisiting the exceeding urge to weep.
For if I do, it is here I shall dwell,
Forever more, in this waterless well.

How have I come to be here, you ask?
I was blinded by a certain task.
A task to love someone but remain careful,
Or fall into this hole so dreadful.

And in this task, I did not succeed,
Drenched in sorrow, my heart began to bleed.
And fall, I did, immersed with fright,
Absorbed into eternal night.

So, slow and steadily, I dig my way out,
My shovel in hand, I escape from the lout.
And climb, I will, out of the earth,
My new life awaiting, my re-birth.
