Behind what you see

by M MEM   Nov 8, 2005

When you see my face,
It's only a mask.
It's the only way I make it through each day.
That's not me,
The real me,
Has a scarred, weathered face.
Because,
Behind every smile,
There are ten frowns,
Behind every time I laugh,
I cry five times,
And when you do see some tears,
Know that there are countless more I'm holding in.
