A Fond Adieu

by Kaye   Nov 11, 2005

We're all moving on
Going our separate ways
Heading off to new adventures
Discovering our own place in the
world

We make promises that we may
not even keep
We may mean them with all our
hearts
But deep down we all know that
they'll be broken
Years from now with our hectic lives
We might not even remember
them anymore

But I guess the truth is scary
So we try to cover it up with
pleasantries
Believe in the good and believe in
our friendship
But it'll always be lurking there
behind all our conscious thoughts

The truth is, we'll drift apart,
become strangers
But we try to deny it and live on in
our illusions
Until one morning, we wake up to
realize that we've lost something
important
And with the years between us,
we'll probably never get it back

With that said, I wish to tell you
that I've enjoyed our time together
I'll always treasure them and think
back fondly on our stupid mistakes
And on our journey growing up
Perhaps I'll send you a letter or a
momento one day to remind you
of the good old days
Just to bring you a moment of joy
and laughter from the years that
have gone past

Just remember, no matter what
happens,
You'll always have a friend in me
Even as time drives us apart
I guess the whole point of this is to
show how much I truly value our
friendship
Just thought I'd tell you before we
start to forget all that have made
us best friends
Right from the start

Good luck to you and your bright
future
Think of our memories fondly as I
will too
So I guess this is where I bid you a
fond adieu

Adieu, Sayonara
Good bye dear friend
I'm sure we'll meet again if only by
chance
