Silent Secret

A silent whisper in the trees
A silent touch of ice
A silent kiss worth a thousand words
Yet never thought of twice

A smile with every look you gave
A laugh with every word
A hug for every night we'd part
The silence never stirred

A secret of the heart in me
A bruise now left behind
If you had the chance to save my soul
Would you think to turn back time?

A tear I cried, our last goodbye
I knew it be the last
The shame of sin within us both
Would be our friendship past

To climb so high and fall so hard
Was but for love to sing
Yet the damage sought and cloud of tears
Was to fly with broken wings

This earth holds but one angel
Hence, I found him in your eyes
Although with him, I do not laugh
At least he doesn't make me cry

The darkness swells my mind at night
And it's there we dance as one
Our shadows joined, with wings we fly
Until the night is done

To lie would be to tell you
That not once I shed a tear
Or cry each time I see you
That I look but never stare
