The Warning

by Stef   Nov 14, 2005

It starts with the simple smile; the one that says, "here we go"
Then you jump in, eyes closed; but there's so much you don't know
All those things she says; boy, be careful; she's good at lying
Every one of those moves she makes; she's barely even trying.

Look at you, you lap it up; you think she's being sincere
Her friends have all tried to warn you; they made it pretty clear
This isn't going to last forever, cuz she's not in it for the long haul
Truth is, you'll come to learn she was never even in it at all.

Pretty soon, you'll find yourself calling her, every night and day
Telling her you're thinking of her; but that's not the first mistake
Your first mistake was thinking that it might just all work out
But you can't say I didn't try and warn you to watch out.

You'll be all wrapped up in her; she'll mean the world to you
But one day, she just won't be there, and you won't know what to do
Then you'll see her again, and she'll be smiling that smile once more
And she won't even see you; and things will be the way they were before.

Except that you won't be able to forget her; you'll see her everywhere
And you lay awake at night and wonder why she didn't care.
She'll break your heart, and she might even go as far as make you cry
Trust me, I know the type really well; we just live for the goodbye.
