The Ethereal Fire

by Bill Turner   Nov 14, 2005

Life is getting a little blurry
I have done something very dumb
I was in such a hurry
To get comfortably numb

Writers and poets all
Would often take something or drink
Whether big or small
Just to help them think

Here I am on my fifth write
Looking at the contents of my life
I must be such a sight
Walking the edge of a knife

Dredging up memories of the past
All the things that have caused me pain
They whip by so damn fast
Flooding my foggy brain

I got a call from the love of my life
She sounded worried for me
Tonight I feel no strife
Her love has set me free

She is all I will ever want or desire
Her love has cleansed my soul
I burnt all the pain and dishonor in an ethereal fire
Allowing her love to make me whole

I can spend the rest of my life in love
Never troubled by the past pain
My beautiful angel from above
Is all that will occupy my brain
