You will regret the things you didn't say

by Strange Angel   Nov 18, 2005

*ok, i wrote this a couple of years ago, but i was taking some files off my old computer, and this was on there, so i thought i would post it and see what you think. so please read/comment.*

She could not see herself,
In any other way,
Other than the beauty,
That she saw each day,

No one could offend her,
With their petty words,
Only the very wisest,
Could see it was not absurd,

The people walking down the street,
Would often turn and stare,
At her malformed face,
And her thinning hair,

But she was living strong still,
And no one could deny,
That she had a lot of love,
For that special guy,

He was the one she lived for,
He was her pride and joy,
And she was very proud to say
That he was her boy.

But looks mean everything these days,
And he could never accept it,
That this was still the girl he loved,
To whom he was devoted.

There was no way he saw,
The beauty that she held,
He could not see inside,
And this was where he fell,

The love had gone,
And following,
Was a huge and empty space
Darkness was the only thing.

For the girl he loved had gone,
And in her place were none,
No one could compete,
For she was the only one.

He missed her and he wanted her,
Every day much more,
And his heart was going crazy,
As she walked out of the door.

He could not say a word,
There was nothing to describe it,
So he just let her walk right past,
And lived later to regret it.

His eyes were blank,
His mind was dead,
There was so much to think about,
So much inside his head.

He could not scream, or laugh
Or cry,
He only knew one single thing,
That she was not to die.

But die she did,
Inside, I mean,
Her heart had frazzled and decayed,
Because he wasn't keen.

She saw no hope in life too live
She saw no future burning bright
She saw no love in those who hid,
And cowered at her sight.

She lived alone for ever more,
Angry and confused,
He lived alone with his thoughts,
But now he found that he was mute.

How had looks destroyed a love,
So powerful and strong?
And looking back upon the day,
He realised he was wrong.

He saw her face in everything,
He wished that she were there,
But there was only him alone,
There was no one left to stare.

She hurt inside and lived not long,
In sadness and in pain,
For she lacked the facial beauty,
That she could never gain.

And when eventually, he found the words,
He left his house and said
"I love her" but it was far too late
Because, she was dead.
