Nothing More, Nothing Less

by missy   Nov 18, 2005

Where I have gone in my life
I look for who I am
I try to see all the paths still before me

As I look back on it now
I see that I have changed
I do not know who I am anymore

My life is not what I planned
It's how I learnt to fight it
And that's what made me survive

So when you ask me what the difference is
The difference between you and me
Not a damn thing

I fight the same wars everyone else does
I live in the same world, just on an opposite piece of land
I do what it takes to keep me alive

I have emotions and a purpose
I have my own beliefs and opinions
I love, I hate, I fear, I misunderstand; just like you

I've been dragged to hell and back twice
But I've also reached for the sky and touched the stars
I've dreamed of the indescribable; just like everyone else

We've had a hard life, but there's others who share and feel your strife
We're shaped by our life, altered through our minds
We are who we are, imperfect, but human

What happened in life, happened for a reason
I can tell you right now, who I am today
It's a matter of choices and circumstances
