I Like...

by Truest Lies   Nov 22, 2005

I like the way the wind floats through the window,
And tickles my hair,
I also like knowing of my pets,
Who will always be there.

I like waking up early on Saturday,
So that I can dance with the Celtic group,
And I like looking at the stars,
On those nights when I can't sleep.

I also like the times,
When my family comes home,
Has lunch all together,
Laughing at the day's antics.

I like these things,
And many, many more.
What I like most of all,
Is to pause to contemplate life,
Although I sometimes hate the answers,
I love the fact that I'm alive.

I think of all the times,
It would have been so easy to die,
Like that time I stood too close to the edge,
Or crossed on a red light,
Or the time I approached that dog,
Because there was a chance he could have had a lethal bite.
Life is so easy to lose,
Drop the hair-dryer in the bath and you'll know,
But I imagine that the most difficult part,
That beats sliding a knife across your wrists,
Is actually living,
No matter the pain.
It's day to day life,
Sometimes you miss the train,
Other times you make it,
But think of the future,
Always look ahead.

If you must look back,
Don't do so with dread,
Because you may have dreams,
But sometimes you need memories instead.
It's hard to live with guilt,
So forget the past for a while...

And if you have to look back,
Do so with a smile.
