In The Spotlight

by Lushed   Nov 24, 2005

At midnight,
The glass bathes the concrete,
In a yellow liquid glow.

Resolute and resigned.
In an alcohol induced stupor,
the decision was made.

Sitting beneath the street lamp,
Contorting his face in regret.
Losing his mind,
He mourns to forget.

Her back was covered in beautiful tranquility,
As she stalked straight out
through the hollow, dank door.
Living now, in the fire of war.

Liquor dances like daffodils,
beneath his leather shoes.
Mocked by the reflection,
of a man with nothing left to lose.

Toying with the cold black metal,
Rising to his temple,
A steady grip, with that single slip.

....and the bang echoed off the walls.
