Merry Christmas, Baby (I Wish You Were Here)

by JP   Dec 18, 2003

“Hello darlin’, it’s me again,
Stoppin’ in to talk again.
Ev’ryone ‘round says, ‘Hello’
And mentions the girl they used to know.
Someone sweet, Someone kind,
Someone who could ease my mind.
Then they sigh,
Sometimes cry,
And wonder why
You had to die.

I miss your voice, I miss your face,
Can you see these tears I taste?
I miss the way you’d look at me,
In a moment I’d feel so free.
And oh so funny how Christmas glee
Isn’t what it used to be,
No more Santa, no more glee,
No special gifts ‘neath my tree.

Then there’s Josh who misses you much.
Only thing he wants for Christmas is mamma’s touch.
It breaks my heart right in two
To see how much he misses you, too.
I saw him just the other day,
He took me by the hand to say,
‘Daddy can we sit and pray?
Maybe mamma hears the words we say,
And feels us in a special way.’

Well, It’s gettin’ late, I better go,
Though you’re gone I hope you know
Just how much I miss you so.
I’ll be back soon, it won’t be long
I’ll just keep comin’ back like a song.
I love you,
Miss you,
So incomplete without you,
I don’t ever see how I’ll be without you.
Merry Christmas, Baby.”
