New Skin

by EpithetPoet   Nov 25, 2005

Scrape away the dead flesh
To reveal a skin lovely and new
Flick the flakes to the floor
To reveal a person completely you

You almost lost yourself there
For a second you were almost gone
We were proud how you fought it
The voices that controlled you all along

You killed off those evil sentiments
Who once held you so damn tight
You slinked away from their grasp
For once in your life, you tried to fight

They left their scars upon your arms
Their fingernails sliced your skin
But that skin is dead and gone
And your new life is anxious to begin

*This isn't to say that I'm completely over my depression, I've come to the realization that it will never be gone no matter what i do, but I'm going to try to fight it as best i can.

What a powerful exfoliation - a great molting that is described here. The crisp taste of words, & the arrangement of tone is like a brightly painted neon colored canvas.

How I enjoyed this declaration... Such a firm standing - a large triumphant shout -- proclaiming your freedom to choose and to decide.

A new chapter begins every day ... what a way to foreword it.
