I Was Once...

I was once the best of all,
I was once the dancing queen,
I was once the one you'd call,
I was once the "perfect" teen.

I gave smiles when people felt unknown,
I gave encouragement when people felt down,
I gave hugs when people were alone,
I gave tears when people left town.

Through it all I am still alone,
Through it all I am still ashamed,
Through it all I am still unknown,
Through it all I am still untamed.

I wish I was much more cool,
I wish I didn't have any pores,
I wish I was not such a fool,
I wish I was so much more.

I was once the happy soul,
I was once the one so true,
I was once the one with a goal,
I was once the one who flew.

Now I am so depressed,
Now I have lost all heart,
Now I must have to confess,
Now I must soon depart.
