The Sea

by Rich   Nov 28, 2005

The waves were rough and I held on tight
The mist stung my eyes in the black of night
My ship was listing and my fear ran high
My hopes were sinking but I had to try

Alas in the distance was a faint red glow
But the water was rapidly filling below
I turned the rudder hard and I banked to the right
My voice was hoarse yet I screamed at the sight

O save me God let me make it home
I don't want to die out here alone
Then out of nowhere the waves settled down
And I no longer feared I would drown

I reached the shore and hugged the earth
And gave thanks to God for all I was worth
I'll never forget that dreadful night
When the mist stung my eyes in the black of night
