The soldiers go marching past,
Whilst I am cowering in the dark.
Constantly the world begins to shake,
While I frantically look for an escape.
I lay at night feeling scared,
As guns fire overhead.
One day they took my daddy away,
Mummy said it was just for today.
My old friends go marching tall and proud,
I stand there just a face in the crowd.
I look up into the once bright blue sky,
As prisoners go past, to camps, to die.
Something inside me starts to sear,
I realise straight away it's fear.
One day they find my daddy dead,
There is no hope only dread.
