Lamentations

by Truest Lies   Nov 29, 2005

I try to put the blame on someone else,
Because to carry this guilt would be unbearable,
But now I have to let it all out.
Now I have to let it all go.

I don't know why I chose you,
A sweet kitten of a few weeks old,
But you clung so desperately to me,
I couldn't force myself to tear you away.
I brought you home, and I fought for you,
I wanted to keep you so much,
You filled the empty space,
You filled that empty place,
Where Blacky used to lie,
And now, in lamentations,
I cry.

I carried you around in a jean backpack,
And I remembered that you peeked your head through,
And as soon as the sun reflected on your face,
I know that your name was to be Tiger.

I guess I didn't teach you,
That humans don't like to be scratched,
Or maybe you were just to wild,
But sometimes when watching your antics I smiled.

After a while it started to hurt,
When you bit me and wouldn't let go,
After a while I suspected,
But I never let you know.

Perhaps you didn't love me,
And I was never that good to you,
But today I cry so bitterly,
Lamentations flowing free,
Because I remember that horrible day,
The day I set you free.

I never used to have any pets but cats sounds like such an interesting little creature with a different personality on its own. Yes, it's another sad poem.. wonderfully written, all the emotions were there. Heartfelt. Thanks for sharing. =)
