Ribbons

by Heather Prior   Dec 5, 2005

I'm back--
in the womb,
of a mother--
who isn't there.
I'm back--
as a child,
with ribbons--
in my hair.
Ribbons,
that I put there.
Ribbons--
I stare at,
wondering--
why she's not here.
Ribbons,
that remind me
no one cares.
I'm back--
in the womb,
of a mother--
who isn't there.

Dedicated to my mother because she was never there when I needed her most.
