Bloody Ribbons

by Heather Prior   Dec 13, 2005

A little girl
Ribbons in her hair
Staring in the mirror
Waiting to grow up

She's older now
The ribbons
Are still there.
Not in her hair;
On her body
Everywhere.

These new ribbons
Are harder to let go of.
They're on her body
Arms, legs
Stomach, thighs.

These ribbons
Are blood red
Still no pain goes away.
They start out small
Then gradually grow.
Deeper cuts
Deeper scars
Deeper pain
Keeps succeeding
Death comes quicker.

One day
It becomes to much
She took a knife
Cut to deep
Let it bleed
Now...
She's gone.
