Good Girl

by Midnight   Dec 5, 2005

She was her mamma and daddy's pride
She was the one who did everything right.
Above the yelling and the screaming she sings,
of hope and love and happy things.
All of this worlds pain and grief,
had no effect on her feelings of peace.
But like the rain wears down a mountain side,
the sadness of this world, set heavy on her mind.
The day her sister died she could not find,
The strength to show the world her stronger side.
Slowly, the world, has turned her around,
Crying silently she knelt on the ground.
All around her spread cold, marble stone,
Just like the heart she would never show.
The day her mother died she stood in the street,
while the police came and cleaned up the scene.
No tears would come this time to ease the pain.
She stood within the sea of blackness...and screamed.
Her life continued as it never had,
with broken dreams and a soul of led.
A fragile heart caught in the midst of fate,
She finally realized how much she could hate.
The day they took her father to jail,
guilt weighed her down as she had put him there.
For when she testified against his sins,
A piece of her heart was locked up with him.
Her sister dead, her mothers death avenged,
Her father paying for his addiction.
Leaving her alone in this hollow world,
Her dreams lay broken in an ocean of hurt.
Once more she kneels on the cold, hard ground,
surrounded by the marble of time.
Reading the names etched in the timeless rock,
She sings of the pain that will never stop.
Sitting by the stones of her sister and mom,
She finally feels at home.
As the blood drips from her wrists and shines,
she remembers a wonderful time,
When she had been her momma and daddy's pride,
when she had done everything right.
Above the yelling and screaming she sang,
Of peace and love and happy things....
