I listen to the rain
beat on my window
listen to your heart beat
wishing you wouldn't go

I watch you in your uniform
soaking in your blood
I see the wound in you
I give you my love

I see the check
and I knew it would come
they don't understand
you shouldn't have gone

You promise you'll be back
and you hold me in your arms
you kiss me on the forehead
Putting you life in way of harm

Hanging in the window
I still have the flag
blowing the wind
fighting for our land

I listen to you sing
and begin to smile
you've been gone
for quite a while

No sooner are you close
you're so far away
Please don't go
I wish you'd stay

My stomach is turning
and I'm getting sick
Feeling waist high
my hopes begin to sink

My head keeps spinning
and your hands slip from mine
I can't seem to get a grip
all I can do is give it time

Can't you hear me scream
or do you choose to ignore
all the pain and hurt
my future has in store

you don't seem to care
and you just fall away
I'm sorry I hurt you
Please just stay.

    Thats so sad, so painful.
The need to hold on to something,
afraid to let go really comes out in this poem. THe emotion is so raw.

    Great write.

    Great poem
the rhyming was really good too.
it kept the poem steady and didnt break the flow.
Oh, and for the comment on one of my poems, I know all about the 9/11 attacks, my uncle was killed that day, but thanks anyway.
