Beauty 's Bounty

by Michael D Nalley   Dec 13, 2005

In the mystical magical days of old
When beauty was often bought and sold
I stumbled upon an unforgettable face
Sweet as can be, and full of grace

Though I was far from rich and hardly handsome
She captured my heart, and held it for ransom
For every heart in prison with a price
There sits a soul willing to sacrifice

Beauty has a bounty that must be paid
For every mistake that has been made
I look for the truth, and listen to the lies
I close my ears and open my eyes

I shall never escape my hearts’ desire
Nor shed enough tears to quench its’ fire
Unable to complain I’m perfectly fine
Safe in the knowledge, she is forever mine
