A Real Anthem

by APoeticLetdown   Dec 13, 2005

I think that song was stuck on repeat
The words were drilled in, and a memory was drilled right next to it
It was our theme song, and I never wanted it to end
So it wouldn't, it would spin around and start again
Hm, I never thought I'd get tired of it

But I did, so I turned it off, but last night
I found that CD, scratched, under a pile of mix tapes
I threw it on and it was like I never really heard the song
Because if I listened then it would still be on repeat
Playing over and over, and you would be singing along with me

I turn it on every now and then, and I really listen, and I see you
But it taunts me, the words, the sounds, the beats, the pain
My heart stops for a second, the world stops, it all just stops...
And all I hear is the song, at full volume
But the words are different, they're slower... sadder...
