Wasting Time

by APoeticLetdown   Apr 26, 2007

We used to sit around in the grass
In those lazy afternoons
Waiting for a change to break our empty lives
And when the day was finally through
And the stars took over the sky
We'd slowly give up, give in

With all the lost time we could have started the world over
Ended violence and hate and made a new beginning
We overlooked the time
The sun fell from the sky
So we'd sit and wait till someone else gave it a try

As years went by we stayed the same
Our passion began to fade
Leaving broken, useless space
We'd think "this world is getting rough
It could use a little help"
But we never thought to do it ourselves

With all the lost time we could have started the world over
Ended poverty and war and made a new beginning
We overlooked the time
The sun fell from the sky
So we'd sit and wait till someone else gave it a try
