Black Wings

by EpithetPoet   Dec 13, 2005

Carry me softly under your wings
How hot, how hard, how black
They crackle and tear under my weight
But they'll never hold me back

So much make up under your eyes
So blue, so clear, so cold
That i would have thought naught there
Yet so entranced in their hold

Your wings spread out around you
Like an angel too beautiful to behold
Yet your wings so torn and grey
Yearns for a dismal story to unfold

The light around you blinded me
But the dark unfurled from your heart
And a million screams and a million deaths
Would always have their part

A thousand knives would never help
A few drunken hits would never come close
They'll stay locked up inside my love
Deepening a wound far too morose

The time has come to break away
To tear off your wings and fall
And i might fall down with you as well
But at least we knew it all
