Inside Out (Sonnet)

by DL Kendall   Dec 15, 2005

I watched you from my window
looking at you from the inside out.
I did not want to let you go,
alone now with my doubt.

Loneliness the price I pay
for feelings that felt too right.
Choking on the words I could not say
Alone again tonight.

I know I can't go with you
I know that you can't stay.
I know it hurts you too,
but it has to be this way.

In silence you glance back, from the outside in.
Isn't it funny how it ends the way it's always been.

Authors note, after thought: This was written many years ago just to try a sonnet style.
