Pictures in life's reverse.

by Lydie   Dec 16, 2005

They started off as pretty pictures
flowers, trees you and me
you put them on the fridge
for everyone to see

as the years progressed
I used darker leds
the colours became stronger
the blacks, the blues, the reds

the soul and life you could feel
with each and every line
from the pretty little pictures
you wonered if they were mine

I painted pictures
just what was in my mind
no-one seemed to like them
because of the hurt deep inside

with each and every picture
I slowly became a new me
someone, something
I never thought I would be

but still everyday I grab a pencil
draw what's on my mind
wondering if the old me
I will ever find.

Painting and drawing is also a great way to express oneself. I used to draw a lot when I was younger....my favorite stanza:

    "with each and every picture
I slowly became a new me
    someone, something
I never thought I would be"

great lines!...reading your poetry reminds me so much of me. its kind of wierd, I know. :) awesome job girl!

Nice Job Lyd, often we get lost into life's dark circles. Trying to climb out of the bottomless pit to who we once were is a struggle that can last for what appears to be a lifetime.

I love how you have conveyed this inner darkness and linked it to paintings. What an excellent idea, allows the reader to be drawn in even more while making the poem even more vivid.

    WTG!
