Stacking the Decks

by Sherry Lynn   Dec 19, 2005

Stacking the Decks

Trying to stop me the best he can
Stacking the deck against me
Preventing me from achieving
Goals previously set

When he thinks I have erred
His punishment I must take
No matter the cost
It is his controlling ways

Fighting back
With all I have
Stacking my own deck
Promising futures me and the kids will have

Extra courses in college
Med-school takes demand
Refusing to be a statistic
Due to some man

Poker game of life
Many will say
Who can bluff the best
Who will win

Stacking the decks
Each against the other
Many lives involved
Determined to win

Wonderful metaphor, and worded just right. Engaging and thoughtful. I could go on, but I think my point is made. I enjoyed it.
