Doorway

by Kyle Sacha   Dec 21, 2005

She sat in the doorway
the little girl
with her golden blond hair stuck to her cheeks
her tears plastered on her face
\'daddy\' she cried \'why did you go?\'

Her mother sat inside with a cup of tea
softly she cried
hiding her pain from her daughter
she had to be strong
\'why did you go?\' she sobs \'i\'m so scared without you\'

The little girl cried into her teddy
wishing it was all a dream
she got up
a little girl of seven
ran into the field
where her daddy was buried

So young at age seven
she had seen too much
her mother wipes her tears and looks into the distance
her daughter is gone.

She runs out the doorway
\'jennie, jennie, where have you gone
she stops
listens
and hears distant cries in the field

Little girl is found
by her daddy\'s grave side
she\'s clinging sun flowers to her face to hide her tears
\'momma, why did he go
her mother collapses
and holds her daughter

they cry silently for their loss

(this is such a sad poem. i have a friend who lost his dad when he was seven and i dedicate this to him. feel free to comment.)
