Empty Promises

by Martyna   Dec 21, 2005

Would you promise to
hold me no matter how violently
the waves thrash?

Would you promise to
blanket me
in your serenity?

Would you promise me
the world
and everything in between?

"That's a promise I can't keep," he says.
There were many.

I like this a lot the last two lines are my favorite. It's like driving the nail home. I can identify with empty promises. It's the story of my life.
