The same story with the same ending

by A Metaphorical Beauty   Dec 22, 2005

I always thought love was supposed to be amazing
because that's what you're bought up to think
You see it on TV, all hearts and roses
And you read it in fairytales the princess will always have a prince
But it's only until you experience it yourself
that you realise what hell it really is.

Every person will see their lover for who they're not
a metaphorical beauty, a false description of perfection and a fatal addiction
So much so that they won't recognize their own reflection
And start to do some crazy things because they think it's what they want
You can watch your lover lay still, thinking they're a sleeping beauty
When really to you, they're a deadly entice.

Your tears become a window into your soul
And your heart just won't behave
Whilst you're suffering silently from the curse called love
Hypnotized by their eyes, they're emblazoned in your mind
Here comes the part where your heart starts to break
And you think "why can't I be what you need? A new improved version of me"

You fell for your lover but crash landed
And the two of you reach your hearts last beat
If you had been honest, and said what you meant
Do you really think it would have been the same?
You were introduced to the moment, hoping to last forever
But as every dream leads to a nightmare you find yourself walking away

You're giving it away, and it makes your heart bleed
You can't get your lips to murmur goodbye
Both your lips dripping and hands clasped yet shaking
Your something beautiful turned into a beautiful disaster
And where cupid played a part in this romantic scene
Has fizzled out and you're alone. You know never to trust again
