Lesson Learnt

by Simon Hayes   Dec 22, 2005

The day I watched the curtains close,
My heart just broke in two.
My strength was only there because,
I was being strong for you.

You've left a very painful,
Loss upon our lives,
But I am so damn proud of you,
Within my heart it thrives.

For you always knew just what to say
And when to say it best,
But missing you is torture,
That loving, laughing zest.

You took care of your family,
Working all the time.
You took your wife away
From all the badness and the grime.

And then one day whilst working
And making people smile
The Lord decided it was time
You stay with him a while

So from your life I've learnt,
A lesson and it's true.
Never live to work,
Don't let your work consume you!

Its so sad, yet you send out such a powerful message. I have to say, your writes are getting stronger and more powerful by the day.

Well, after talking to you, I know our work is taking over. I guess that was the inspiration for this poem, which is really good. Keep up the great stuff Simon!
