Ocean of Life

by Bill Turner   Dec 24, 2005

Rain pouring down upon my head
Wet sand clinging to my feet
Wind driving the waves to shore
Scent of the ocean in the air
Standing here without a care

Burying the negative in the sand
Leaving all my woes right here
They will trouble me no more
Hidden beneath the waves and beach
My future is now within reach

Watching wave after wave
A never ending motion
Realizing nothing waits for time
No longer feeling the daily strife
Moving forward with my life

I still do not have answers
Eliminating many questions
Like the surf and spray
I will forever persist
Living and loving I cannot resist

I wish she were here
To see and feel this magic
Experience the healing of the sea
I do not know what tomorrow will bring
Someday a beautiful wedding ring

I know what it's like to see sunset on waves, but to know that it's not the same as seeing it with her inches away.

Excellent poem Bill, I really enjoyed it.

For some reason though the last line doesn't quite feel right, maybe it's too short. At it's current length the line feels a bit abrupt and forced. Like you just wanted to end it.

But a small criticism of what remains an excellent poem. Well done.

Damn I miss the sea. Miss the surf, miss surfing. They say a picture is worth a thousand words...well some of your words equate to a thousand pictures in my mind. And a few smells too. haha.

    well done.
