Perfection

by EssenceOfLace   Dec 27, 2005

From the day he said she was perfect,
To the day she took her life.
She knew that he'd forget her,
And forget she was alive.

She thinks she isn't perfect,
Because he broke her heart.
He lied and said she was perfect.
And that tore her soul apart.

She knew she wasnt perfect,
Thought it with all her might.
Now she cries every morning,
And dies away at night.

He told her she was perfect.
She didn't think she was.
He lied to her again,
By saying she was enough.

She finally realized the truth,
And took her final breath,
Thought of what he said to her,
Now you know
perfection only comes with death.

"--Perfection only comes with death" should be the last line, for sake of the final verse and the final flow.

it was an astounding poem. I found it very invigorating and very saddening, yet somehow, enlightening. We all have to know we aren't perfect, and accept it.

This story was short, but simple and to the point.

    well written.

    5/5
