Pierced

by evangeline   Dec 28, 2005

Why, why -all those lies-
Piercing through my heart -bitter compromise-
Bestraggled victim of a cruel fate
Have I always suffered this late?
I see -only the surface-
I hear -only what wants to be heard-
I feel -only as deep as the pierce-
I taste -only the pain toward-
I smell -only the obnoxious melancholy-

Sight averts the surface dim
What I hear has left again
Feeling refrain, yet torment
Is this blood I taste or before I went
Distraught, I sniff the flame of despair
My heart bequeathes the light before
Torn to tatters it winces more
While the knifing breathe of shadow envelopes
My pain to deeper state -I choke-
On the tepid words that keep running through
My mind.
